PC orbital prices
I really need to get a PC orbital.
The cheapest I've found is PC outlet for $107 for a reconditioned one. http://portercable.cpoworkshop.com/p...OVMTC=standard The cheapest NEW PC orbital I have found is Amazon at $132. Any other suggestions? What about applicators, etc. Should I get them from Griots? Thanks guys. |

What about this? Do I need it? Any advantage to having THIS polishing pad over PC's? http://www.griotsgarage.com/catalog.jsp?SKUupsell=10626 And has anyone tried this? http://www.griotsgarage.com/catalog.jsp?SKUupsell=11536 EDIT: or this? http://www.griotsgarage.com/catalog....1004&SKU=11518 Last edited by FC; 10-06-2005 at 09:54 AM. |

I got my kit a few years ago from CMA which appears to now be this: http://www.properautocare.com/74uldemawico.html
In looking through the website it looks like they have changed the pads a good bit....I guess it's time to buy some new ones. I haven't used the Griot's pads but I do have a lot of their other products and I really like them. |

you definitely want special pads versus the one that comes with the PC.
I'd order a bundle from CMA (bren's link above) or from detailer's paradise I didn't have very good luck with Griot's polishes. I switched to Menzerna, but hven't used it yet.

OK, so... given this page, http://www.properautocare.com/hi612infopaa.html
I guess I'll get one yellow pad to remove scratches, a couple of white pads to apply the final polish, and then a couple of either red or black pads to apply wax. But what is the difference between red and black? Why not go for the Red "Concours" pad? Why the black? |

I have had really good luck with the Griot's stuff. I would not recommend the bonnets to remove the wax or polish. If you do use them, make sure you get the wax on when it's cool and get it off relatively quickly. I typically wax the whole car then remove all the wax. The Griot's best of show wax leaves an incredible shine, but it doesn't last as long as some other waxes do.
Any particular reason you think you will need polish one or two? You might, but I rarely use them. Oh, one other thing. The Griot's pads are by far the easiest I have used start to finish with Griot's products. The products are water soluble and the pads are spongelike, so the cleanup is simply rinsing them until the water runs clean. |
