Remote-Mounted Turbo
http://ststurbo.com
Fascinating concept, but I can't help but think that there must be some sort of catch. Turbo lag has been brought up many times but according to owners it's not a problem. Hmm... |

I have seen this product installed. There's a kit for F-body (camarobird) and it just looks downright silly. The turbo is mounted waaaay back by the rear axle. Has to have wicked lag.
http://superchevy.com/technical/engi...rs/0411sc_sts/ - here it is Of course, they never addressed the fact that boosting modern N.A. engines with cast pistons and narrow rings/rang lands usually ends with broken shortblock within weeks. Even the mighty el es juan is not well suited for boost in stone stock form. What worries me more is all the road crap that'll hit/get on the unit mounted back under a car. And heat near fuel tank. And ridicule from friends. Silly fad. Will die on the vine. |

For a relatively constant RPM engine application, maybe. For street cars, it's retarded. |
