...for considering this?

FS: Reduced!! 1985 535i $3000/obo
This is a sharp 535i I-6 with a 5spd. Too many new parts to list but here are a few: new drivetrain, new clutch master/slave cylinder, almost everything under the hood has been replaced in the past 2 years. The interior is in good shape: sunroof, power windows, and cruise control. Everything works! Good tread on the tires (http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=AB2&url=index.jsp). Aftermarket rims go with the car. I have the original rims if interested. 200K+ miles. I have most of the service records for the past 5 years. Its a great little car but we really need a truck so I am giving it up.

I bought an old'ish car advertised as "everything works." Nothing worked for very long.

Not that it should stop you, just something to keep in mind.

For that price it would be the most fun you could spend $3,000 on ...
my question is how you nuts would you be not to buy it.

Or you could spend $3k on a tranny swap for your papa's car.

I'm doubting it's really that cheap.

Meh. Tranny swapping an E39 is a losing game.

Yes, but so what?

Get it, play with it until you're bored... then sell it.

Just don't ever add up the amount of money you put into it while you own it and you'll be fine. :D

I like e34's better than e28's.

I'm afraid my opinion is biased.

All you need to know about the E28 and more:
