Porsche Classic for 987/997

I was waiting for this but sold the car before they finally released it. Kind of expensive but honestly I’d do it over any of the aftermarket options to keep the OEM look and feel.

I saw this at the dealership recently. It is amazing Porsche does this, IMO.

I am sorry it won’t work for my 987 though. Hope they will update this to work for it.

It does seem costly, but it’s less than a new iPhone or new MacBook pro. Just for perspective.

Nice. I remember reading about this for the 996 and was surprised they didn't offer it for the 997 as well. Glad they finally did!

Oh, wow, the nav functionality is maintained *and* there are new maps available via SD card. That’s huge!

So weird it doesn’t work on 997.2s; maybe just a trim problem?

I'd love something like this for our e36. I know at least a few people have actually retrofitted the single DIN porsche one in a BMW.

Eh. Just get a good phone mount, and buy this to have something that looks right in a single din car: https://www.crutchfield.com/S-FHu751...QR-46-DAB.html

Yeah, I have the mount you suggested and it works well. I am still rocking the old BMW Traffic Pro for the head unit!

Apparently the 997.2/987.2s can use an aftermarket kit to implement Car Play. Saw a YouTube on it -- it does require removing the head unit and installing an extra card inside the case, but it looks relatively straight-forward.

Apparently it also maintains all prior existing functionality, and a long press on one of the buttons flips it into Car Play mode.
