11th-gen Civic

This car isn't likely to be in the wheelhouse of anyone here, but here you go anyway. It is ... not good looking from the front.

The rear is a huge improvement over the current car.

It'll be interesting to see how badly they butcher it for the hi-po versions. The current Type-R is

I'm shocked that that's a Civic. Looks far more like a next-gen Accord to me. It's way way WAY better than the current civic

I agree it looks better, but that isn't a high bar to clear.

Not sure why exactly but the front end looks like a 2018-ish Jetta that got stung by a bunch of bees.

I saw a comment online yesterday that stuck with me - seems like Honda goes back and forth with every other gen of Civic between bold & conservative styling. I don’t know various Honda generations well enough to confirm/deny that, but just thinking off top of my head what prior gens looked like I think that’s fairly accurate.

Back looks much better, and parts of the front look fine but that grille area & the hood line are just awkward

Yea, I agree, “it got stung by a bunch of bees” sums that up really well!

There seem to be two different ways people are approaching the styling challenge posed by the high-hoodlines mandated by pedestrian safety standards. 1) try to minimize it by putting in a GIANT grille (BMW, Audi), 2) try to maximize it by making the car look like it has a bulging forehead (this, the 8th gen VW Golf, Airbus 380).

I don't think either approach is good.

Overall, this car is fine. I've honestly been thinking about one for my kid, as the only plausible alternative to a GTI. I'm hoping the Si trim won't look too dumb.

LOL on the A380 reference.

Yeah, I've always wanted to like the Civic but had a hard time getting past the styling. This one is innocuous enough that I think I could deal with it. It's atleast as good (or bad) looking at the 8th gen Golf. Curious to see the hatch version. That rear window "kink" looks exactly like Cadillac's latest designs. Not sure who copied who or if designers just inadvertantely engage in some type of "group think".

I remember thinking that the F30 3 series had quite a hood forehead when it came out. But now that i see them all the time I've kind of overlooked it (plus the current crop of BMWs make any older gen BMW look beautiful)

I'm sure this is due to the European pedestrian safety standards.

To me this Civic is fine. I see a lot of Audi in the tail.
