My instinct says from now on, the manual 911 will only come in those extremely limited runs. Like the Sport Classic or S/T.

It feels like Porsche will justify the added performance of mild hybrid. And that means 8 speed PDK only, doesn’t it?

I've read that the base car may not get the hybrid set up and therefore could continue as the 'purist' manual option. Time will tell.

If PAG offered the 992.2 base car with a manual option unlike the current 992.1 I suspect that they might kill off the T? After-all the T is a lighter weight base car offered with a manual and some S and GTS (shifter) bits applied.

BTW, While the base engine might be enough for most, I can report it is not for me. I need more zip!

In other news, my selling dealer has extended an offer to purchase my T back. We will see… I am currently mulling it over with 6XX miles behind the wheel.

Edit: While I like it, I am not in love with it unlike my base 997.2. At this juncture, I do not believe I am ever going to fully warm up to it.

I may have previously stated this, but I truly feel that the 997.2 is the pinnacle for the water cooled 911.

At 6XX miles you have not really opened it up, though. But if the sub-4krpm driving is uninspiring, even if it totally came alive above 4krpm it would probably not be enough to make up for it.

Break-in recommendation is to be keep it under 4000 for the first 1,875 miles. I have gone to 4300 a few times. Meh… I think even with lightweight glass and less sound deadening in a T, a large part of the experience seems to be masked. I noticed last night at speeds above 60-65 miles an hour you do not hear much. More German luxury than German sports car. The overall 992 size is a factor as well, but one must just suck it up and deal with it if they want to be in a new 911.

I have repeatedly read that the S is where one wants to be if they desire the power and a manual. I wish Lemming would take delivery soon to confirm as it might be too late… The T and I have gone our separate ways.

I have very recently inquired about getting an S and was told no more .1 allocations. It will have to be a .2 and there are tons of unknowns like 48v and the possibility of no manual. The absence of the analog tachometer would probably bother me too, but I would eventually get over it.

Edit: As a refresher, I originally wanted an S allocation, but they are highly desirable, therefore difficult to come by. The T was a way to get my foot in the door with my dealer as a first time new Porsche owner.

Not yet, the offer was presented late yesterday after. They need cars and I happen to own one that I am not totally in love with. I am told via their preowned mgr that it is a good time to get out if that is what I want to do.
