I bet you'd take a 997 over any C4, too. What's your point? Almost all of us would take almost anything on a 15 year newer platform than its previous competitor. What does this tell us?

My Ford knowledge fails me. However, the SN95 still doesn't win. Both it and the '93+ f-body were basically rejiggered versions of their predecessors, but GM pulled off the better rejiggering job, particularly when they went with the LS1 while Ford introduced the modular 4.6. None of this takes away from the sound that blasts out of a 5.0 with Flowmasters, but even Vanilla Ice can't make that car better than the SS of my undergrad dreams.

Ok, that Canadian E36 is really bugging me.
There's a letter with it that should allow importation, but as far as I can tell it shouldn't have that letter and shouldn't be eligible for importation. There's a commenter on BaT that claims they've always been legally importable, but I remember back in the late 90s these cars were legendary in the BMW community and I don't recall any suggestion that they could be legally imported. A mystery. EDIT. But look what I found when googling around for info. Who the fuck are these jackasses? http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/arc...p/t-44999.html EDIT: Also funny--the guy who seems to show up in all the threads on these cars (including over at BaT) is a guy named Shockwave. He owns #1 of 45. Here is a 14 year old thread where our very own Nick slags that very same car (prior to Shockwave's ownership, which came in 2006) for being too expensive. http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19426 EDIT: And a video of that car. The use of Bittersweet Symphony is unforgivable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHpJudTZJsI Last edited by JST; 04-20-2017 at 11:07 PM. |

I still like that my '99 lacked keyless entry, had a perfectly-positioned immobile steering wheel, and a tape player (I think). Good times. |
