the GTI v. the Si is really an interesting discussion. if you read the article, the test drivers are hard pressed to find a dynamic area where the GTI really surpasses the Si. The Si won anything that had to do with dynamics but lost on all of the practical issues.
so, i can really understand why someone would choose the Si over the GTI as purely OEM products. that said, i have a sneaking suspicion that chip tuners are going to broaden the performance (straightline) difference between the two cars rather easily.
