Guys, come on, there's plenty of time to rationalize why you aren't buying one. No need to figure it all out this weekend.

I happen to think it looks better than I expected and better than most cars in the class (meaning 3-series competitors not EVs). I imagine the interior will change prior to production. But at this moment, I plan to follow through with my order when my number comes up in three years.

Considering that Franz von Holzhausen (Tesla's head of design) came from Mazda and designed much Mazda's current product, there is some similarity to Mazda design. But the 3 looks less Mazda-ish than the S.

Here's a different angle of the Model 3 trunk… Looks pretty similar to the BMW and Audi…
and here's the Model 3 Frunk -- supposedly from the AWD prototype:

I want one really badly actually. And it's making me think twice because I've started the process of purchasing a parking space adjacent to my building. I walk out my door and the I'm looking at my car. It's awesome, and practically unheard of in NYC. But.... it's an outdoor parking space. I assume that means it will likely never have charging capabilities. I never considered the future of electric vehicles when doing the cost/benefit math on buying it. Not only on how it limits me, but also how it might effect future resale value of the space. Hmmmmm. |

We'll have to see what the final design turns out to be.
But it's one of those things where a small difference can create big problems. It's already tight getting certain things in the rear of the E46. A hatch would have been phenomenal. |

I don't think it's ugly, but it's not stunning. The rear is cropped awkwardly. The front looks like it had its mouth sewn shut.

Yes.
The other cars have some of an opening at the top of the trunk area, Tesla's is only along the rear plane of the vehicle. So you'll be physically crawling into the trunk rather than reaching down over the top. Edit: As far as appearance, I'd hardly call it stunning. It's a pretty basic run of the mill looking economy car. The Porsche mission-e is stunning. The model 3 will blend right in. |
