Moto-Man G42 M240 review. He liked it, wished it was RWD and had a manual: https://youtu.be/x8kRhJe4jpk

3870 pounds is a joke

Sorry.

But for a 2 series?

Remind me again why no all wheel drive Subaru weighs this much? Or the Golf R? Or the S3 or RS3? Oh that’s right. Because they all top out at 3500lbs.

I think it’s all great a BMW can mimic a DSG and can go in a straight line. But BMW is notorious for adequate brakes. And then this porcine weight. Yeah. No thanks.

Likely because the 2 series is really just a shortened 3 series. Adding/subtracting sheetmetal on the same basic car doesn't really change the weight much unfortunately. The cars you mentioned are all FWD based platforms the drivetrain is a bit lighter too. But yeah, I agree, that curb weight sounds like a lot for small sport 2 door coupe.

Subarus are RWD-based platforms, not FWD.

Yeah, I guess you're right. I was thinking that the Impreza was more RWD-based because the engine is mounted longitudinally but they are transaxle cars with a rear driveshaft.

Guys, I’m just pointing out that you can add horsepower to a lead sled, but you still need to brake and need to slalom in said “sports car”. And you’re at the mercy of typical BMW brakes (yuck) and limits of how wide the tires you can put on said car.

If you, for example, read the scathing review of the new Merc EQ580, the main complaint is that it’s damn near 6000 lbs and doesn’t do anything particularly well.

For this wheelbase and footprint, I cannot take a BMW M240 seriously. This is a fucking joke.

My 2017 240 brakes feel fantastic compared with my Mazda CX-5...

And the 2 is a convertible...3790 lbs.
