This somewhat tempting. Just because it looks so sexy and has a stick.

Now if this were a V12, I could see doing something stupid.

But what I really want is one of these (preferably with a MT)

I get the need for all sorts of pic/vid documentation, I am comfortable honestly disclosing all the pros/cons, can get a full maintenance history and can be around once an hour or so to answer any questions in the comments. What else do I need to know in regards to not getting eaten alive on the website? Any suggestions on whether this is a good idea or not worth the headache? Any thoughts on if there is more money to be had on BAT vs CCA and some of the other message boards?
BAT would scare me. But, then I'm easily scared. CCA is pretty easy and a very targeted, enthusiast buyer. I had great luck there with my wagon and would probably use it as my first choice again. Plus, it's low-profile enough that you could still try BAT if you don't get good results.

If you have a number in your head, why not drive by carmax and see what they offer. This would be the lowest hassle unload

CCA and BaT would be much better places to sell the z3 than carmax methinks.

OMG. I...I want this.

My favorite part is the booster seat in the driving video.

I have had very bad numbers from CarMax in the past tries with four different cars.

CarMax is pretty variable, in my experience. What they offer will depend entirely on their national inventory and how fast they think they can move a car. They've given me really solid numbers (and I have sold them) three cars, my 2011 Countryman, my 2008 E90 M3, and most recently my 2017 Golf R. OTOH, their numbers on my '98 M3 (jesus that was a long time ago), 2014 Tesla P85+, and 2012 Golf R were well below the wholesale price that I was offered at other dealers.

My guess is that CarMax won't be very interested in a Z3 of that vintage, so I'm not sure I'd bother. But for later-model cars, it's almost always worth a look.

For the Z3, I think BaT might be fun. CCA is probably the best bet, but my guess is that it won't move quickly there (and you're coming up on fall, which isn't the best time to sell a convertible, anyway).

This is a good point. For a car of that vintage another year won't hurt--only more mileage/wear and tear.
