I don’t know why, but the PDK equipped cars do nothing for me.

I guess that why I get stuck in the GT3s.

It just removes so much driver involvement.

I think all of us here understand why...

As you pointed out, it's great on a racetrack but removes part of the experience of enjoying a sports car on normal roads...

Good point.. kinda makes me wonder what the point of having a Spyder RS at all is? As I understand it, RS cars are really meant to be track cars that can be driven on the street. But if you were someone who regularly tracked your car I dont think you'd want a covertible.

Yup.

It's about getting headlines and building the brand as one that makes amazing cars. By association, your vanilla Boxster is now cooler.

Of for sure. But wouldn’t they achieve even higher levels of money extraction by offering a manual?

I don’t think they can justify the cost to certify the 6speed manual with the GT3 engine in the Boxster platform. Too costly.

Easier for them to leave as PDK and skip the EU and US certification process. Whatever the hell it is, it sounds expensive.

Ah could be. I suppose they've come a long way since trying to artificially limit the potential of the mid-engine cars to maintain the 911 as the top dog.

There is non-trivial R&D effort in cost and time to fit that GT3 transmission as well. It's not just certification.

Only thing I can think of is that it limits the 911 Speedster appeal. Don’t know if that matters.
