The young guy barely spoke english so the older guy explained they just got it in so it is being prepped so not available for a few hours. He then precedes to tell me they don't let people test drive them anyhow. I said that is not what the young guy told me and he just looks at me. So I left, dealer didn't seem to care that they wasted my time since I guess they have people lined up for it.

anyways, reminds me why I hate dealers.
Ugh..yeah that's very annoying. I got a similar runaround when I wanted to test drive a VW GTI last year. Since I was in the area, I ended up going across the street to the Porsche dealer and after a minutes of chatting basically tossed me the keys to a 120k Taycan and said "have fun". I almost wanted to drive it over to the VW dealer and say something, but I knew the irony would be lost on them.

It’s part of what keeps me in higher end vehicles. I hate most dealerships, but BMW/Porsche seem to treat you a bit better. Especially if you are a repeat customer. Doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll get a good deal, but it feels less dehumanizing.

yeah I guess the difference between luxury and mainstreams dealers. Only time I have been able to drive a car without a saleperson is recently with telsa.

Agreed. I had a similar situation many years ago. I wanted to test drive the then fairly new C6 Corvette and the guy lied and wasted my time. Went to Porsche and they gave me the keys to a 987S and told me to be back in 20 minutes.
