Definitely not. I am near a similar number to upgraded from my F15 to a G05 LCI. Not at all justifiable to me.

I’ve definitely changed my priorities as I’ve gotten older. The crazy Covid market & lack of lease support also helped. Easy to get addicted on the rinse & repeat cycle with <1% lease payments.

No regrets though - still love our 2020 X5 and only has 26k miles. So a $50k upgrade doesn’t make much sense to get essentially same car without big changes. Actually bought a Fidelity Platinum warranty just before I crossed 25k miles (price tier cutoff) and fine driving this another 4-5 years.

Yep- the days of good lease deals are long gone now. I'm also thinking about buying an extended warranty for our car. How did you decide on the Fidelity one?

Max that BMW offers is +3 years, Fidelity does much longer terms. I essentially got +5 years of coverage for a bit less $$ than best pricing I could find for the BMW +3 option (so much lower on cost per year basis). Fidelity also does prorated refunds if I sell/cancel before end of term while BMW only does that if you buy warranty in a state that mandates it. I would have preferred BMW plan for ease but Fidelity is probably the best 3rd party plan out there and good reputation in Porsche circles so don’t expect any issues using it.

Good to know. Gracias! I’ve only bought one car warranty—and it was the BMW platinum for our E70 X5. It did indeed pay for itself, as we keep the car for 7+ years.

Thinking I may want to do that with the 4, given its complexity and that I am unlikely to buy such an expensive car again once I am retired.

Did you buy it through your dealer?

Bought it to through a Volvo dealer in RI, they have a website with pretty aggressive pricing on Fidelity warranties. They are sponsors at Rennlist and Bimmerfest.
