And the X1 has gotten bigger too. What's next on the lower/smaller end, an X0?

OT, I saw recently that the new M2’s footprint is just a tad smaller than a E39. BMW no longer produces a smallish vehicle.

It does not. My 4 GC is pretty huge, too.

Was curious and looked it up. The 4 gc is almost the exact same length and wheelbase as an e39! I actually think that’s the perfect size for a daily driver in the US…gives you a decent backseat and cargo room.

The 2023 2 series coupe is about 8 inches shorter. A few inches longer than an e46 but not too bad.

Of course weight and visibility won’t be as good as in those older bmws due to crash safety, etc but i woukd t really want to trade that off in a daily driver

Yep. It really drives like a 5 series. Which, at this point in my life, is just great. The caveat about back seat room, though, is that because of the rake of the coupe roof, there is not has much headroom for rear passengers as in the 3 series sedan.

That’s not a problem for me, because my tall kid rides in the front passenger seat, where he has plenty of room. His friends suffer a bit occasionally—but just for short rides.

And the hatch is super handy—especially with dogs.

The LCI configurator is up. This works for me… https://www.bmwusa.com/build-your-ow...tyr2pb/summary I really wanted a facelift Cayenne, but my build would be another $40-45k and it is just not worth it in comparison to an X5.

They are not cheap, but they are a relative value in a high-end SUV. I say, unless you have money to burn, save the Porsche money for their sports cars.

This times 1,000,000. I just drove our x5 250 miles and got out thinking how awesome it is at that duty. I really love that thing for a big highway cruiser that can handle 4ppl, a dog and a bunch of cargo.

Our X5 and our E61 wagon are the best highway cars I’ve had.

That said, I feel way more comfortable in my G26 than I did the F23 2 series on the highway. Size and height are really nice on the highway, which gives the X5 the edge in my experience.
