That’s what came through most prominently in the Google images—not a fan.

Hefty jump. Plus, you know every option will be a bit more, too.

Edit: Huge jump for the plug-in.

wow, that makes the idea of the 40 miles of all battery range way less appealing.

Even bigger when you consider that it will no longer qualify for the 7500 tax credit …effectively that’s a 15k price jump!

Clearly bmw knows the market better than I do but still seems kinda crazy given that the car market is softening . I will say it does make it kind of tempting to try and pickup a leftover 45e at a discount

To me the LCI is a mild facelift with a worse UX so I can’t see the justification for moving it so much higher

I suppose the question is whether the next iteration will receive a big jump in range/power. But, still: ca-ching!

It does get a bump in power that should bring the combined 0-60 time down to 4.6seconds (from about 5.2 iirc). It also gets a faster onboard charger (7.4 kw vs 3.6 so if you have the proper equipment and enough amps at home you'd be able to charge it faster). Range is claimed at 40 miles, but i'm not clear if thats for the US spec. I believe the 45e had the same size batter y pack (~24kwh) but BMW limited it to 17kwh in the US (speculation is that it was due to our regulations around battery warranties needing to be 8/100k). So unless they are planning to unlock more of the battery for the 50e, real world range will likely be similar (or possibly less given the more powerful electric motor).

Even with the added power it doesn't strike me as compelling enough to justify such a huge price jump. I suspect that their logic is that they wanted to move this model up in price/performance to fill the gap between the x5 40 and the m50.

When is the plug-in X3 coming back to the US? It seems like that's a niche to fill with the X5 moving even more up market.

Edit: I'm seeing late 2024 as a 2025 model.

The all new G45 X3 should be arriving late 2024. The current G01 X3 is nearing the end of its lifecycle. The G45 is going to receive a nice increase in size. The spy pics have it looking to be similar in size to my F15 X5.
