Speculation seems to be that if BMW was to produce the Z4 shooting brake that it would be extremely limited production with an extremely high price tag. It sounds doubtful for us commoners.
In other news related to the G87 M2. It will gain two new paint colors beginning with July production, both frozen paints. Frozen paints are such a PITA. I wish BMW would provide the same colors without being “frozen” BTW, I am still waiting for my #1 allocation. Given that the model year will roll over in late August I am going to hold out for a 2024 at this point, letting someone(s) to jump ahead of me. Last edited by SCA; 05-24-2023 at 09:49 PM. |

Wow! Entirely by accident, BMW created something that I actually like (mostly - I'll reserve final judgement until I see it from the front).

Caught up now on all of the reviews of the G87 M2.
I guess if you could get it all in black, it looks good (to me). Still don’t understand the curb weight. I get that the engine is sandbagging its numbers. But 3800lbs is still a lot —dumb things like the $12,000 carbon package is cool. Cast wheels as opposed to forged —not cool. It’s at the level (power plus useable space plus equivalent curb weights) that for me, I guess I’d get an M3 and have the four doors. Same curb weight. Basically same power. And also get it in all black to hide the far worse styling. Just an opinion. This car leaves me cold.

Newsflash… M is essentially dead! BMW M is purely a marketing department and barely the Motorsport division of the past, exception to the CS or CSL models. What many of us formerly appreciated about BMW M can now only be found at Porsche. MotoMan ~ Looking into the future with the CEO of BMW M! https://youtu.be/zGHQaYcTLJg |

I finally got my allocation today! BUT… I declined. July production is the last month for model year 2023. I am going to hold out for 2024. My brother was #2 on the list so my allocation defaults to him and his specs are entered and he has a production number.

Nice thing about that is I assume you can get some seat time in your brother's car before you have to lock in your order

Hopefully, but doubtful it will be much seat time. He intends to keep his indefinitely, which means he will rarely ever drive it. Giant garage art.

Sounds like you're a month away from getting the 2024 Allocation ... Good move holding off, I did the same when I got the allocation for the Corvette, I had gotten a 2022 and waited the month to get the 2023.

Seems like a good call. Plus, I have a little preference for the even numbered years…
