Exactly…. I gave my deposit a while back which put me at allocation #1 after the launch car. Allegedly the individual program will be available this go around. If that becomes a reality I will most definitely pursue that. Mine will be a manual…

Edit: If the pre-LCI is that good then I will more than likely replaced it with the last year of production.

*Note, the 50th anniversary of M is in 2022 and allegedly there are several things in the pipeline for the anniversary including something pertaining to the G87.

Any truth to the rumors that production for North American cars will move to Mexico from Leipzig?

Everything I am currently hearing is that all 2-Series production including the G87 will be Mexico production only, even for the EU.

FYI, the Mexico plant is currently the most advanced plant that BMW has. It currently only employees around 2800 (edited). It must be fairly automated?

A few more pics. The low spec models get smaller triangles. Also is that a power doom hood?

The smaller triangles seem to flow better, at least to me.

Yes, power dome for the hood.

I was just about to post the white car pic. To me the non m-sport front end looks better than the M-Sport version. Overall, especially in reference to car design in general and other BMW models specifically, I think it is a good starting point. Significantly less OMG that's horrible reaction inducing than the M3, and a number of other new cars these days.

Yes, the press embargo expires at 6p EST. 15-16 months until the G87 M2 info will drop.

At first blush this first reveal is problematic from all angles. The Bermuda triangle front intakes are unseemly/ungainly looking. The protruding side rocker panels are going to require an immediate upsizing in tires, and/or insertion of spacers to make the stance and appearance look more proportional. And finally the whole rear looks like a (s)mashup.

About the only thing I am digging is the purple skin (Thunder something or other).

That being said, the LCI of the G87 is what I will have eyes on.

I have dancing in my head a '28 or '29 stripper in Le Mans blue with 6 speed manual.

The only other thing on my wish list is a more communicative, less numb steering rack.

They really ought to have this thing figured out by then, but then again it's been 8 years now and ESP is just as frustrating to me as it was at inception.

Oh, and please BMW offer a traditional polished silver wheel option. Not everyone thinks murdered looking black wheel are all that.

More pics…

*Edit, not loving that full on side profile photo. The exterior color and the wheels certainly do not help.
