Reminds me of the old saying about how wiring in an old British car serves to evenly distribute smoke throughout the car

ok, two things:

1) It just hit me that that car, along with my ZHP, are now ~20 years old. Time flies.

2) I never got the furor then and I get it even less now except purely as a collectible, and I would never collect that.

Agreed. Doesn't VW mean the People's Car?

Yeah the rising blue one of these is one of the few cars that I specifically regret not buying. Really just missed the boat on it; it was so much more interesting than it had any right to be.

Others that fall into this category are a Boston green E46 M3 that I passed on, a 964 that I should have bought for 20k, and blee’s E30 M3. The Chevy SS I drove almost makes this regret file, but it was a boring color. Still, I should have grabbed it instead of the disappointing Mk VII R that I ended up with.

I absolutely love the Mercedes R107.... But... not as much as the bidders who went after this car.....

Not at BaT and no idea where values are these days, or what the 'provenance' of the car and seller are. Not thinking rationally, but on looks, I feel a bit of attraction to this one:
