The AirTag video is interesting, actually. Raises some intriguing privacy questions about the driver, the company, and (especially) the other customers of the truck (for reasons that will be obvious when you see the video). DeMuro was relatively discreet about where the truck stopped, but there’s no reason he couldn’t have posted a map. If I were the trucking company, I’d update my TOS to prevent this.

Yeah- I think there was an airline recently (maybe Lufthansa) that was in the news for apparenlty forbidding airtags in luggage

I believe there's some sort of function that will alert a driver that has an iphone that there is an AirTag near them. (To prevent stalking)

Yes, it does.

When I went to Ojai last time, I shipped my golf clubs out there using FedEx (via Ship Sticks).

As the air tagged golf clubs picked up iPhones, it would show the location, from where it sat in a shipping container at LAX to where on the 101 the FedEx truck happened to be at that moment.

I'll not use an Apple 'Air Tag' - but something more generic... I presume.
I have not done any homework yet on these things.
I actually plan on getting three and putting one in each of the E23, E9 and Mustang.
Kind of a new version of Lojak - maybe - for the 21st Century.

Will see what happens....
If anyone has any ideas - would love to hear them.
Will let you know what I end up doing.

Keep in mind that AirTags work by leveraging the sheer scale of iPhones out there. Other phones pick up their signals and pass on the location — built into the OS. Tile has the same basic technology — but not the same network (requires other people to have the Tile app installed). There are devices that have gps and cell connections, so can work independent, but they cost a lot more and have higher power needs (AirTag batteries last over a year…)
