could have been worse . . . your leak could have sprayed brake fluid all over the engine bay (been there, done that)

I did have an Olympic brain fart when I was very young that could have been catastrophic but miraculously I bailed myself out with cleverness and a lot of luck. Cliff notes: I left a quick disconnect coupling stuck inside the bore of the spark plug in my 190E. I has visions of having to replace the entire engine head. Or at the very least having to pull it off and paying someone to remove the threaded fitting. This was all during a valve stem seal replacement on all 6 cylinders. |

Earlier versions of the Motive were shipped with plastic hose that disintegrated when they came into contact with, you guessed it: brake fluid. I learned this when I got a face full of high pressure brake fluid a number of years ago.
Shockingly, I still use mine, because I've never had as good of results doing fluid flushes by other methods (vacuum, gravity, old-fashioned pedal-pumping). I got an updated hose from Motive (free!) and I am diligent about cleaning the thing with denatured alcohol after use. |

Oh well. Brakes fluid is now flushed, coolant is flushed and oil is changed for an additional cost of $220. I probably shouldn't complain, but it pisses me off knowing how to do things and not getting them done.
