Anyone have opinions on tires? I’d been hoping to get a couple of years out of the tires on the old X5, but they look pretty crappy (dry rot).
I think that the leading contenders are: Continental DWS Continental LX25 The green X5 had a set of DWS previously, which i liked. It has a set of Michelin Premier LTXes currently, which are… Eh.

After the E90’s brake upgrade, this weekend’s other project was to attack the X5’s remaining rear suspension. It’s annoyingly fiddly, and I think I’m still feeling some post vaccination fatigue, because that took a lot more out of me than it usually does. Everything is swapped at this point (both upper control arms replaced, balljoint pressed out and replaced, bizarre “integral link” replaced, swaybar end links…. Now I just need to compress the suspension and torque everything. Oh yeah, and swap out the rear brakes. They’re below minimum spec, so I’m installing upgraded vented rear rotors and calipers to match. No actual change in braking power, just not the offensively cheesy solid disc.
I have to say that the suspension design is *weird.* I don’t get it.

all set. need an alignment, then tires.
The stretch goal is to find a set of brembos that can be retrofitted inexpensively.

I don’t think you need Brembos before you do the S54 swap

+1. My parents recently replaced their old Conti DWS with the latest generation.
