Ja, my E30 looked like crap until I took a PC and machine polish to it.

If you're not hung up on an ix, you'll have a bigger pool of decent cars. The RWD ones are easier to maintain, too.

Very nice. I am still considering an E30 here. I know I could use one... will I do it though. Times are so f-in tight though...

If you're going to do it, I'd do it sooner rather than later. It's getting harder and harder to find decent examples and prices on those are getting closer and closer to unreasonable.

You guys (and gal) are all really bad influences. It's a good thing this isn't a drug forum. The peer pressure here is incredible!

I'll have a good mechanic look at the car. Anyone know of any good ones in Vermont?

I can't imagine they have much of a need for good BMW mechanics in Vermont, with all 5 BMWs registered there.

If you really can't find anyone, I don't think you could go run into trouble calling the dealer up there. If they're anything like us, they probably have 2 or 3 techs there that have owned an E30 and know the car well. In fact, one of our most senior techs has a near twin to that car-- a red 325ix coupe. So long as you make it clear that you know it's a 14 year old car with 180,000 miles and that you are not looking for a perfect car, they can probably give you a good idea about the integrity of the drivetrain and mechanicals.

Looks like it has real leather (that's in pretty good shape) and heated seats, too!

Yep, it's pretty rough, but fairly cheap. She wants $3k. That side bolster on the driver's side looks bad, and the lower airdam in the front is fairly terrible, but time will tell.
