I have seen some really great deals on low mileage V8 vantages on BaT lately. All in the low to mid 40’s.

R8’s are cool but aren’t spyders rare and pricy? Esp one with a manual.

Porsches are very livable.. You can really use them for many tasks, the mid-engined ones have immense trunk space for the small sports car that they are. The 911's have bigger cabins and still decent frunks (only if 2wd). They also have good visibility and a not huge footprint. These make it possible to drive them on shopping errands etc, making it that much more fun...

You were so set on the .2 turbo-6 engines, I was curious as to your impressions. Good luck.

I could find any of the 3 in my price range (under $100k all in).

There's a reason older AMV8s are so cheap

watch from 4:22 to 4:43 or to 5:00...
Problem is, Hammond is right, and they are so pretty and pull hard at your heart strings.

Seems like real manuals are averaging about $5k higher for Astons. The ones that go in the $40s are relatively old. Newer ones are in the $60 - $80k range... like this:

V8 R8s from 2011 - 2014 are in the $70-$90k. In the ad below are production stats. There were only about 168 manual spyders produced.

That's another drawback of going the r8 or amv8 route... The R8 would be 5 years older than the 911 I'd get and the AMV8 doesn't seem to hold up really well, whereas the 911 could be used regularly. If you budgeted e39 m5 maintenance costs, you'd probably be ahead of the game with a 911, probably not so much with the other two.

Yea, the set on the .2 really came from the 981s experience and my realization that I want more low end grunt (as well as having a car under warranty, the updated infotainment system, etc)

Good point on the low end grunt ... something the 991.1 could use ... also the new infotainment system blows away the previous one, I have it in the Cayman.

I've been seriously thinking of ordering the 992 ... I think it is more of a thing where it will happen it is just a matter of when ... Still trying to figure out if I could do a lift of some sort so the cars are all in the garage.

BTW in regards to the warranty if you get a car that it is running out and want to purchase one I really think the Fidelity Platinum warranty is great, I have it currently on the 911 and like I had mentioned in our PM it really came through with the R8.

That was my first impression as well. Place looked sketchy, but the reviews on all the sites are pretty positive. I requested more pics and a Carfax before I entertain it any further. It has all the right options for me and the higher miles for 911s seems to be the only thing that impacts depreciation on these cars.

I really can't or at least shouldn't do anything until late March at the earliest. Then I might as well wait until the 718 gts 4.0 and the 992 cab w stick hit the market in June timeframe as I think those two cars will drive more 991 owners to swap. Then I might as well wait till November for the convertible season to slow down so I can score a bargain....

You'd be amazed how many 2*4s you can fit in the back seat with the top down. You should try it in your 2er sometime
