This. I'd be curious to see numbers on people going back to an ICE car from a Model S.

The RVG was a stopgap and offered before Tesla had a lease program. I was a bit surprised they kept it around as long as they did, since leases have been avail for over 2 years now.

I don't have the RVG on my car -- it required the loan to be through Tesla's partner bank, and was not directly avail in AZ (I would have had to buy my car in Oregon to get the RVG and not be hit with sales tax). Between a higher interest rate and the cost of flying up to Portland to do the paperwork, it wasn't worth it.

My car is right in the 36-39 month RVG window, although I'm way over the miles (at 55k while th RVG allewed up to 39k miles...). But based recent private party sales, it looks like I could sell my car for just a bit below the RVG amount. But if I traded it to Tesla, I'd take a bath.

Since I've decided to keep it until the Model 3 arrives, I figure I'll just sell it privately, possibly shortly after delivery of the 3. It will be paid off or close to paid off (depending on when the 3 arrives...)...

There are some -- mostly people that have to have the latest fancy car out there and flip cars every year or two.

But I'd be surprised if there are very many. I certainly can't see myself going back to an ICE...

Ken had a Model S for a year and is back in an ICE car. Part of it was he felt like the car was getting enough mileage on it that it would be dropping in value soon, but part of it is that the Model S lacks any sort of driver engagement.

So he was able to trade it in? Or did he sell it himself?

I'm guessing he didn't buy another giant luxo-barge?

He sold it private party. He's back in something fun to drive with a gas engine and a manual trans.

Is there really nothing here about Tesla's amazing new lease deals?

Pardon me, I'll show myself the door.

Doesn't that amazing deal require something like $15k down?

Saw that. You have to be pretty desperate to show off to your neighbors to lease one at those prices.
