Starting my perseveration early

My 335i lease is up next April. Unforunately, that may place me into a bit a of a no-mans land. The cars I think i'll be most interested in are the next gen S3 and BMW 235i GranCoupe or M2. I highly doubt that eitehr will be out by that point. The Golf R will have gone out of production. I'd prefer something smaler than the e90/92. So that will likely leave:
-end of run e82 135i or 135is. Based on a 7 year model run, I'm guessing we'll see a 2014 MY for these. Should be some good leease deals on them next winter. I've made me peace with the looks but would prefer 4 doors this time around. And who knows, maybe i'll like it enough to keep it around for a while, and throw some non-runflats.
-Focus ST: interesting but I have a feeling the leases on these suck and I may not be thrilled with a high power FWD car.
-Base model next gen A3 sedan with quattro . Looks good, but Audi leases tend to suck and first year German cars are soemthing to be avoided generally.
-FRS/BRZ: Not practical enough for what i need but I'm intrigued. I think the leases on these suck though.
-320 or 328i. My guess is i'lll be able to get a uper cheap lease on one because it'll be the last model year before the facelift. But meh..just meh. The A4 is more nicely built but I liked driving it even less. Might be an ok placeholder on a 2 year lease though. 4 series looks more attractive but it'll be the first year and i'm sure the leases will be way to high plus it even bigger than the F30.
-Some form of Mini. All the usual ciriticsms of overly harsh ride, lack of space, crappy intereior and iffy quality. I do like the way the 2 door hatches look though..but then we're tlaking evne less room than a 1 series and i wouldn't be surprised if the lease ends up costing more.

Right now I actually think i'll end up with a 2 year lease on a 2014 135i to get me into the sweet spot for the S3 and 235i. A3 sedan will be a clsoe second if the leases don't suck like i think they will. Kinda hard to get excited about getting a new car that's essentially 7 years old though.

When does the '13 Golf R go out of production? April is only 2.25 months away and I know for a fact (here in Chicago) there were a lot of unsold new 2012 Golf R's sitting on dealer lots in December and early January. In fact, I just did a quick search and one large VW dealer here in the Chicago area still has two "new" 2012 Golf R's and one new 2013 Golf R. You may be able to find one in April.

Edit - Unless by next April you mean April 2014.

I think he means 2014.

2013 wouldn't be all that odd. In fact, that's quite short for a carmudgeon.

Yes, I meant 2014. So that's over a year of waffle time.

That's so far out it's more like a pre-waffle.

Judging by your comments, I'm guessing that buying a used car is out. I suppose this is an example of why leasing isn't always a great choice....

One question would have to be this: how does the value of you 335 compare to the lease buyout. My parents ended up buying both the S4 and the M3 off lease because of the way that used car values have skyrocketed. They were happy with the cars an there were no interesting new alternatives.

So far it's not looking good and the buyout is pretty high. Given that it's just a regular e92, the arrival of the 4 series can knmy push down the value further.
