@dan

I am like 90 percent certain it was Boston, but poking around it seems like Oxford was more common and even those were vanishingly rare. Still, I have a pretty strong memory of it being Boston. Who knows?

There was at least one of them.

Wow. Boston green and that car looks great under that lighting.

My brother’s ‘02 S54 M Roadster is Oxford Green, it is fairly dark. I think I prefer the shade of Boston to it.

Funny.

As I think back, it was a 1995 LS wagon. At the time I thought it was awesome. It was loaded. It had full leather, lumbar seats, etc.

We never had a green/tan SHO, but we did have a green/tan LX wagon. It was a really nice highway car.

Paging 'Fil or anyone else who might know this...

I got the paperwork. Everything is fine other than cost of transportation is listed as a line item along with a couple of hundred dollars worth of other fees (which is fine).

My point being that the bottom line on the purchase agreement is a number that includes the transportation. I fear that the RMV will use that bottom line number when registering the car and charging me sales tax along with determining excise tax for all eternity.

Can I tell the RMV to not use that and instead use the top line that says cash value of vehicle?

I expected to pay for the transportation separately. In the grand scheme of things it's not THAT big a deal, but it's an extra $156 in sales tax.

If the shipping is listed on the bill of sale then it might be taxable. I’m not 100% sure of that, memory a little rusty on that one. Might want to ask them if they be willing to take it off the bill of sale and charge separately (or have you pay the shipper directly).

As for excise tax - that is not based on your purchase price, it’s a formula based on the original base MSRP of the car which the state pulls from a vendor (not actual MSRP of your car - would be the base MSRP of a 2021 M5). $25 per $1000 * an adjustment factor for age of vehicle. (in calendar year 2024 - 25% for MY21 and 40% for MY22)
