Didn't the Yamaha SHO V6 have this in 1989?

EDIT: Also, fuck that's fast.

The SHO had a dual-mode intake manifold. So does my RX-7. Nothing new. But the BMW system isn't two mode, it's continously variable.

The S1000RR is a neat machine and if I was in the market for a 1000cc race replica I'd certainly consider it.

I just sent the link to my husband. I may have a battle on my hands. Where should I go shopping if I let him get one?

One bad ass motorcycle! When I get a chance the local dealer has invited me to test ride one. It is too much bike for me, even though I have a R1100S (1085cc). The S1000RR is a totally different animal. I wish BMW would produce a 600cc model.

Stupid quote from the article:

Quote:
There was a time when 100 horsepower in a motorcycle was cause for governmental intervention, yet the 2010 BMW S 1000 RR offers 190 hp @ 13,000 rpm, more power than that of the first-generation BMW M3. It's like packing a 500-hp BMW V10 into a BMW 1 Series.
Hm. At 455lbs and 190hp, the S1000RR carries 2.4lb for every horsepower.

It's more like stuffing a 500hp M5 V10 into a 1200lb Caterham Super 7.
