DC/MD/VA/NY Carmudgeons (kart) track day?
All this track talk got me to thinking about setting up an event at Summit Point Kart for some of the local guys, but then I got to thinking: why not set up a Carmudgeons day at SPK? There are enough of us that like to go fast here but not enough of us interested in doing a regular track day.
http://www.summitpointkart.com I've done a couple of these with work folks and it's easy to set up a three race or four race day: practice, qualifying, race1 and race2. By the end of it everyone but the super hardcore guys are pretty tired. Last event I did it was $80/ea for about an hour of track time across the four sessions. Extra bonus, it will be in the spring... so clyde may have his Focus ST. Nick could bring his 330is and we might actually see Alex in a competition environment again. Thoughts? |

I'd definitely be up for it. And if we needed numbers, I'm sure at least one of my sons would go.

The sweet spot is 12-15 heads. Enough karts to make passing challenging, but not so many that it's a zoo.
And for those who haven't been to SPK, it is not like any of the indoor karting places. There are plenty of opportunities to pass, the karts are well maintained and the track is very creatively laid out. |

Sounds like a great idea - in the spring.

I like how those in NJ are specifically not welcome.
On a more serious note, it's a bit far from NY. |

Yes, I am totally up for it.
It is also a bit of a hike from NY. Does NJMP do something similar? That's surprisingly close to DC. |

NJ is also welcome. And yes it is a bit far... but we have plenty of beds at our place for those who want to come visit. Matt, if we picked the right date I'm sure we could bookend it with an autocross. I am sure we could find a car for you to drive.

I'll tentatively say yes. In terms of ride and impact (think potential back pain for certain old farts), where do these fall between Allsport and the shifters at FedEx?
