The rack is not going to stay on that much, mainly for ski trips.. Until our TDI is bought back (which may be as late as 2018), its tow hitch can do that job, but it's nice to have options.

The one hitch install I saw on a 535i required bumper cutting (sucks but ok I guess) and also drilling into the trunk floor metal, which I'm not so cool with. I'll stay away from expensive/difficult stuff.

I can see from the svc trail of the previous (unbelievably, overly OCD) owner that the performance exhaust was a b*** to get right, required multiple trips.
