Well... Decided to halfass it for now. Liquid electrical tape at least lets me defer dealing with this. Fighting the old lens off was a hard enough job.

New projector (Evo-XR) to upgrade and replace the tired original.

Which meant replacing the lens because you have to cut it off to get the projector shroud off.

Sure does look a lot better. I look forward to trying it out.

This reminds me, I need to replace the headlights in the E46 from the original halogens. I think i posted about it in early July. It's time.

Is there a cheap easy button?

IIRC, you have a couple options:
1) Morimoto Minis are direct drop in for H7. So you could install those in the existing headlights.
2) Swap in a set of bixenon fixtures. You won’t have autoleveling and you may need to do a little coding, but that’s fine.

The morimoto mini is supposed to have great light output. I wish, I wish I could do this to my crap 340i led's.

It's a coding thing. Comfort entry. You can fix it with Carly and (I think) bimmercode

Is there really a comfort access setting for "open the windows when I lock the car with the remote"?

On the coupes with frameless windows and longer doors it is a feature to make it easier to get into the car. No clue why it would be used on an X5 though since it isn’t frameless.

That's rather different from opening the windows when I LOCK the car.

Note: LOCK, not unlock. LOCK.
