Something can be viscerally appealing on a certain level and still be a bad idea on many, many others.

Horsepower - the sugar of the car world. Good in moderation...

More horsepower than the chassis can handle is a bad thing. Adding more horsepower in a way that upsets the weight balance of the car is a bad thing (aka MZ4). But otherwise, you can always just press down less hard on the "go" pedal.

Good to know. But that has nothing to do with the conversation at hand.

That was the point I was making, glad you "understand".

But if you'd like to argue about something we obviously agree on, have at it.....

That's the whole point. One should press down hard on the go pedal. Why have something that sucks gas and blows pollution, and then you have to breathe on the throttle? Bad, in a global sense.

Of course, cars have a fundamental design flaw. The controls that require the most delicate modulation - brake and throttle - are given to the feet instead of the hands.

But it seems like it would be awkward to shift and steer with your feet.

Shifting with my foot is great.

Sucks gas and blows pollution? What exactly are we talking about here?

A 400hp Corvette gets equal or better mileage than a 240hp Honda S2000, with its tiny little 2.2L engine.

That's the beauty of the human... amazingly able to adapt.

Only because it's relatively light, how many cars can you name that are like the Corvette?

It's a rare beast, the Corvette is, GM deserves kudos for its existence.

Most of the cars gal's talking about definitely don't fit the 'vette mode.
