I like the long shift kit too. (I know, it's an autotragic)

My favorite part is that thing that looks like a nav but is actually just a fancy vehicle status indicator.

It was that brief moment before airbags took over the center of steering wheels. I'm not sure anyone else was doing it? But Pontiac sure loved it.

Remember the 6000 STE?

Is that an early iteration of HUD in that briefcase on the dash?

Looks like an early "infotainment" system!

I think this has to be the best feature. A combination lock for the glove box!

Ha ha yes, I remember when these things were new, that seemed like such a slick feature. I had a couple of friends who had them (not McLaren Turbos, just "normal" SEs), and the interior seemed very futuristic.

The SEs were dog-slow, though, even by the standards of the day. I think later they got the 3.4L DOHC V6, and of course the turbos had a fair amount of power, but I remember at the time thinking it was the typical GM patch job--release a new product with an old engine and try and fix that a few years down the road.

Wow. Kinda makes me miss the old-GM that would try out zany things like this. Also love the fisher-price radio buttons- memories of driving around in a friend's chevy beretta in high school. Also remember kind of enjoying getting the late 90s Grand Am as a rental car.
