Just 4k miles, nice!

Edit: I just noticed the paint-to-match center console. That is like a gold mine these days. Rare as not many individuals optioned that.
IIRC, Dark Blue Metallic. The deviated carpet and console helped, but I never got used to the beige dash. Looked up my records. Bought with around 5k miles, sold with just under 11k. And I only kept it over one winter, I drove a lot more back in those days.

I posted back then of a snowy/slushy drive I did on unsalted backstreets with its bridgestones. I know all about snow tires, but those are not very high-performance to begin with... Anyway, youthful crimes. The car handled amazing. Great traction and very controllable drifts.

That looks really clean. Shame about not having full leather, but in black it is not so bad.

The 997.2 might be the new 993, is that what the market is pricing the car at?

It is a lovely car.

70k for the 3.6L engine is robust pricing. Happy for the 997 owners. Except, don’t sell your cars, dummies.

The vast majority of base 997.2s were not equipped with full leather. It just did not make much financial sense on an entry level 911. I feel the same theory still applies today on a base Carrera or a Carrera T.

Guess everyone totally missed this? http://forums.carmudgeons.com/showpo...postcount=5760

Agreed, do not sell one if you have one! I have seen several individuals give up their 997.2. for a 992 T. I am so glad that I held onto mine as I would have some serious sellers remorse right now if I had and I already have it for selling my F15 X5 in order to make room for the G87 M2 that did not pan out.

You regret selling the x5? I thought you were over that car regardless...

Nope, I was not over it as I loved the vehicle overall. I absolutely despised getting it and the other BMWs serviced either locally or at the dealer in Chattanooga, 90 miles south of here. I was simply over BMW’s notorious shitty service at three dealers. I am also including BMW of Nashville, which is also a Sonic Automotive dealership like BMW of Chattanooga. I had been dealing with subpar BMW service since 1995.

I immensely dislike the G05 X5. It does absolutely nothing for me and we have one within the family, albeit a N63TU (M50) that I have driven at distance multiple times. Nevertheless, I test drove a 2024 M Sport 40i last fall, it did nothing for me and it was fairly similar performance wise to what I sold at half the cost with only 8,900 miles and 7 months of BMW platinum warranty remaining.

Right- yeah but it souds like you were over the whole ownership experience given the local dealers. If it makes you feel any better both of my local BMW dealers suck too. But I guess you still have a need for something like an X5 in your fleet?

As I get older and more sensitive to wasted time, I have gotten more impatient with poor dealer experiences and also traveling long distances to get decent service.

BMW used to be a pretty premium experience for service, but it no longer feels that way. I have a dealer close by—but they are the worst of four/five. And they no longer offer loaners unless your car is getting some huge service $$ done. I’m supposed to wait in their waiting room for five hours to get an oil service?

All of this may push me toward Porsche next time I have to buy a car—as long as they remain relatively nearby.
