I am somewhat encouraged that it's fetching this much attention despite all of these things, and the front end respray. I don't think I can adequately fix the rock chips on mine without fresh paint. |

Bren: It's become a fetish car. I'm sure long time 911/964/993 owners were surprised as well. Now that all porsches have been sold/overpriced, time for the M's.

I guess I haven't found anything I want to replace mine with yet, so maybe it makes sense. Pretty cool if I can drive it for 20 years and make some money on it.

My black S4 had a lot of rock chips up front, and wrapping it was a lot cheaper than repainting it. You can't hide a repaint when someone has a meter, but it is easy to point out that you added clear bra (even though it is black not clear)

I resprayed and then clear bra'ed after. I never understood the whole against respray as long as it's done by a very high end shop.

Mine seemed to already have a front respray when I bought it. Every part underneath looked matched and old and there is no accident record, so I thought it to be an honest respray. I told this to the buyer, he didn't seem to mind.
But if your chips are in line with your mileage, I'd say leave it. The respray will add no resale value, just satisfaction for you. |

Exactly. I did it just because I hated the rock chips. I clear bra'ed it and it still looks perfect today.

Kevin if you didn't already sell your 2002 I almost would have thought this was yours with the E9 he has in the garage. I usually don't like 2002's but this one is neat.
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1975-bmw-2002-18/ Maybe it is you!! In the second to last pic there is also an E39 M5. Is this guy related to you. Lol
