That was the first thing I noticed, too.

Nothing from the 964 on has grown on me. The 993 peaked at tolerable.

The 964s irritate me because they try too hard to graft 80s aesthetics onto the 911 shape. I thought the 993s did a better job modernizing the overall look. The 996s look like ass. The 997s are appealing.

I look at my 991 and think it is a much better looking version of pretty much the same freakin car that Porsche has been making FOREVER !!! Big picture to me is none of the 911's look that great .. it kills me they don't do a major redesign and start making it look like a sick ass exotic ... |

993's drive well but are funny looking with small eyes, the 964 is the sweet spot in terms of looks vs. modernity IMHO.

I think the 991 is attractive. The 997 was kind of a step backward to familiar shapes, though I liked it very much. They needed to redeem themselves after the 996 aesthetic train wreck. But I think the 991 looks very modern, and a suitable look for a modern 911.
I mean, it's pretty big, but that's just what's happened to the 911.

Some of you have, um, notable, senses of design aesthetic.

That might be among your most diplomatic posts ever.

the 991 looks bloated to me. It's worse in pictures than in person, but still, yech.
The 997 is ... delicious. Especially in GT3 form. Now, the 981 and the new Boxster/Cayman ... they're both beautiful to my eye. |
