xenon self leveling

Anyone ever havea problem with the xenon self leveling mechanism, particularly in an E46? The driver side on the wagon seems to be stuck in the fully down position.

Should I point out that my free halogens level just fine?

Nah, better not. That would be obnoxious, and not adding anything to the thread.

I've problems with the strap that connects the sensor to the control arm, but that made both point down, not just one.

I was thinking the problem must be something that connects the headlight to the self-leveling motor....since it's just the one light. I'll see if I can find something in the TIS.

Yeah, now I know why they have a special BMW school. It must be to simply learn how to navigate the stupid TIS. Anyway, in the ETK you can see the most likely troublemaker:

Headlight vertical aim control 67 16 8 372 381

look here - http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partgrp.d...30&hg=63&fg=05

the first thing I'd check is to see whether the self-leveing sensor is still connected to the front suspension (assuming it's done the same way it is on the E46 M3). Last time I looked at one of those I thought to myself that all the little connections looked pretty fragile.

Yeah they are known to break off. Thing is that both lights usually point down not just one.

That's what I was thinking. But when that goes, both headlights should drop.

But still worth looking at the control arm and checking that's still connected. And BTW, if that's the problem, a ziptie fixes it fine.

Ah yeah. I forgot that the control is single sided. D'oh.

Is now a good time to mention to Bren that his driver's headlight is constantly in "blind the person ahead of you" mode?
