Ha! That's the car I EVER drove with a stick. My cousin had it brand new in 2000 and he was the only one I knew with a stick so I asked him to give me a 15 minute crash course so I could drive a MT rental in 2000 when I went to Germany for a project for 2 months.

It's a true friend who will let you learn how to use a clutch on their own car!

Well, he was family, so perhaps he felt some obligation, but nevertheless, awfully kind of him. Worst part is that at the time I drove a POS 1985 MB 190D with 71hp and you had to use that gas pedal like an on/off switch. As a result, my right foot had no sensitivity, and try as I did I was not particularly kind to the car. I didn't want to burn his clutch, so I kept stalling.

I definitely would have done the flares differently--I would have done box flares like the old IMSA cars.

The clutch wasn't the issue. It was the gas pedal. It was very light and sensitive and I was used to just mashing it. I'm sure it would all feel normal now.
