I had the bag replaced today on the Touring. My wife was really relieved. She was getting tired of having to drive in reverse everywhere she went, although to be honest she drove better that way than forward.

I got a brand new 230i as a loaner in beautiful EB II paint. It felt fairly flickable, but the steering even in Sport+ mode was crap. The M2's rack I drove at Monticello back in May is a tad better, but even it is still a long ways off from dialing in EPS to the hydraulic level of feedback and progressive response. The EPS is just so maddeningly numb on center. On the bigger models might as well just put a flamin' boat wheel in and be done with it. On the deuce, due to it's smaller dimensions it doesn't feel as handicapped as its bigger siblings. And for that I could almost forgive it, but when driven back to back with the E91 it gets punked savagely.

The upside is I'm not tempted to drop big bank on anything these days. And my retirement account is really happy about that.

Next week I have to take the other BMW in for the recall. Compared to everything else they've given me I wouldn't mind getting another 2er as a loaner.

It's clearly in my book the most "sporting" model this company makes today.

Agreed, of course. And your fleet is worth holding onto.

My 01 M3 needed a passenger airbag a year or two ago. This year the driver's got checked and did not get replaced.

The 535i has two recalls outstanding.
1. rear CV something or other (parts are in)
2. In-tank fuel pump (have been waiting for a year, may call BMWNA as being stranded would seriously piss me off)

Last month I took my e46 to the dealer for a NY State inspection and to get a new key programmed. They actually found and performed 3 recalls: passenger airbag, driver airbag, and a tail light wiring harness.

They managed to;

1. Forgot to bill me for the new key
2. Billed me for the programming even though they said they wouldn't
3. Scratched my wood trim when installing the passenger airbag
4. Deprogram the car's customizable locking behavior (one click unlocks all doors, etc)

They promised me a replacement for the wood trim piece (despite not getting it to me yet), but I'm not letting them install it. I'll just put it on a shelf. The scratches aren't that bad and I'm skeptical the color will match.

And I doubt this is related, but my radio reception is now terrible and I don't recall it being an issue before the visit. I'm wondering if the antenna wire runs anywhere near the tail light harness they touched?

Probably more likely they pulled the head unit out when working on the passenger airbag, and then didn't plug the antenna back in...

Oh shit, maybe. Seems kind of strange to pull the radio for the airbag though?

Is the recall TSB available somewhere to confirm the install process?

e46 radio is easy to remove (but you do need to remove the passenger side trim piece). It would take you 10 mins to check and see if the antenna is plugged in.

You might want to pick up one of these:
https://www.amazon.com/Original-Carl...ly+bmw+adapter

It works as a code reader and basic programmer for BMWs. You'll be able to code your door locks and lots of other things on both your e46 and e90.

I couldn't get the Bluetooth to do anything on my 04 e46 - they told me I need a cable connector.
