I was wondering if that was what you were up to when you posted that you'd be gone for about a month.

Hope you a have a great trip.

Any hints as to the top secret Atom upgrades? Quite the pic of the frame only, by the way...

Always enjoyable to follow your progress, usually either green with envy or thankful for shelter.

I'm guessing a supplemental nuclear powered electric engine.

I don't think any of us would be surprised to learn that Teri has a Mr. Fusion...

Lots of pictures of Crater Lake here. Tomorrow I should arrive at Yellowstone for 4 days.

That looks fantastic.

I think we need to figure out how to do some sort of 'mudgeons fest at a road like that sometime...

The problem is that all of these great roads with nobody on them are in the middle of nowhere.

Here's the Google Maps locations:

West side

East side

Well, this one is only about an hour or so from my house:
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Congre...gl=us&t=h&z=11
(the section just south of Prescott is fantastic).

And this is only about 10 min from my house:
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=bartle...gl=us&t=h&z=12
(has a bit more traffic though -- but mid-day on a weekday is pretty empty)...

A bit further away (5 hours or so), and probably the best driving road in AZ (the local BMWCCA chapter organizes a trip once a year):
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Alpine...&t=h&z=9&via=1
Unfortunately, the northern portion of that road was in the big AZ fire this summer, so not as scenic as it used to be...
