There's a lot of really sketchy stuff on BaT.
The only things that matter to buyers there, seemingly, are glossy pictures and cold-start videos. |

Everything else I've read online is tinged with bullshit, so it's hard to know what to do. The IMS retrofit people have a vested interest in selling their product. Porsche has a vested interest in minimizing the problem. Armchair engineers and bench racers have good intentions but terribly imperfect knowledge. I suppose if I were getting the clutch done on an early car I'd ask them to do the bearing. I'd probably ask my shop which part they recommended and go with that. EDIT: Really what I'd do is buy a 9A1 if I could. |

We put almost 8,000 miles on it last year and have grown to really enjoy it. We paid it off this weekend as well, which for some psychological reason makes me much more comfortable owning it. I've mostly gotten over my revere of it and my concern about what people think. Having less of a give an f attitude has definitely made the experience much more pleasant. Other than the 3x overheat issue due to the leaking water pump and coolant in the vacuum lines, its been low maintenance. I think it will be a long term keeper, although with the market as stupid as it is, I could put it on BAT and make ~$10k on it.

Glad you’re still loving it. And convertible season is coming! (It’s been in the 70s here all week.) |

Here too. We did get it out of storage last weekend and brought it home Monday night. This last week has been in the 60s and sunny, so we've been driving it all over the place with the top down and the heated seats on. It definitely contributes to my already bad spring fever issues.

That is an impressive amount of mileage especially for a 911 convertible during Covid. Well done! Seems like most 911s only get driven a few k a year so it’s cool that you are really making the most of it.

Congrats, Josh... Great spec and good to get the niggles taken care of while under warranty and to top it off - not lose money. Who would have thunk that 4yr old cars are worth as much as what they were worth 2-3 years old? Manufacturers have stopped making cars for the enthusiast so everyone is shopping used.
