If I know my wife at all, what she really meant was, "No one in my family had a car with a/c until the mid-80s." Her first car with a/c was a 2000 Alitma SE she bought in 1999.

My ‘65 Landcruiser even had an aftermarket unit installed (put in by the original owner when the truck was new)

Thinking back to the cars my parents drove in the 70s, the only one built that decade that didn’t have AC was the VW Squareback my dad drove. But he also has an early 70s Blazer that did have AC.
My 1969 Corvette did not. The 1970 Cutlass and 1976 Delta 88 did. The 1975 280Z did not. The Mustang GTs all had it. My 92 Civic Si came without it, but I'm pretty sure I bought it as a dealer-installed option (or added it within a month or two of purchase).

I don't recall any of the family cars we had when I was a kid not having it, but I remember my dad ranting a few times about one of them not having it because he had bought into its marketing over its ventilation system that he thought would be good enough to not need a/c. Can't remember what car, though.

I look at my neighbors' houses with the same floorplan that have sideloaders and weep.

Currently, I have storage against the back wall to the house and overhead on the sides. (I think I’m at 22x21 currently.). Not sure I can do that with the new house. Will only have 3’10 inches clearance between the back wall to the house and the garage door with the cars in there. Probably less. Both cars are 15 feet long.

I have no pantry either in the kitchen, so may end up parking the Mazda in the driveway. Less than ideal in hail country.
You'll find a way.

I know. I am coming from a three-car garage pre-divorce...Then I coveted the three-car garage plus extra room for storage...

At any rate, I suspected this might be my future, which is why I sprung for the Signature edition Mazda with the 3D cameras all around and folding mirrors...

Pretty much everyone I knew had AC by at least the mid 70s (ie when I was old enough to be in a carpool for school). But then again, I grew up in Arizona, so perhaps there's another reason everyone had AC

One other anecdote: When I worked at BMW in '92, there was a variation in assembly for the engines at my stage -- cars with AC received part fitted with a valve and cars without AC had an elbow fitted instead. 100% of the engines headed to the US had AC. Perhaps 20% in EU had the AC valve...

We had 2-car garages in Atlanta and Arizona. Atlanta was OK since it was before kids. AZ started off OK, but was a pain by the time we moved.

OH had a 3-car garage (with a storage area so it could hold 3 cars and still have room for some storage).

TX has garage space for 4 cars in 2 separate garages. I don't think I can ever go back to less garage space!

I am the most anti bright color car person there is, but I have to say it looks pretty good in Birch Green.

Blue is by far the best standard color on those. How difficult and expensive would it be to order one and specify a different BMW color?

From one day of browsing an m2 forum, it sounds like it is pretty much impossible.

I'd be buying used anyway so no chance for me unless I wrapped it
