Huh. In NJ, anyway, police are required to post advance public notice of DUI checkpoints.
I don't see how this could possibly be enforced. Is it illegal to call up your friend and tell them there's a checkpoint somewhere on public roads? I can't see that as possible. Ham handed blunt force ineffective intimidation is all I see this as.

Does NYPD really think the app reports checkpoints? They must be as stupid as the so called leader of the USA.
Or maybe I need an update for Waze, as it only notifies me of police, it doesn't specify checkpoint. Also, I didn't know until yesterday that Google owns Waze, might explain issues with Apple carplay

Pretty sure GM doesn't allow comments, or I haven't figured out how to use that, one or the other

Something else to call your buddy that's had 18 beers in the last five hours and say, "Hey, there's a police checkpoint ahead looking for drunks and I know you're smashed. If you bypass it, you probably won't get busted."

I have to tell you this is really interesting, i dont like the whole police involvement on an app like waze but I also dont like the idea of a person drinking and driving getting away with it ...
I think we all worry at night especially with our kids on the road that a driver coming at us or them on a two lane road might be drunk and could cross over and crash into us/them. This is a reality and is scary as shit. |
