RS6 Avant
I love its looks, but no doubt the cost for a peon like me would be prohibitive. As a direct competitor to the Mercedes E63 AMG and BMW M5 which have both been presented a while ago, Audi is planning to offer the RS6, seen here undergoing final tests at the German Nürburgring. The bigger air intakes in the front bumper and the two big oval exhaust pipes are the key clues. While the S models have four round exhaust pipes, the RS models have two oval pipes as their distinguishing feature. Shown in these spy photos is the Avant (station wagon), but it will also be available as a saloon. Powered by the same V10 engine as the S6, but with some help from a turbo delivering about 520-550 bhp, this Audi will give the M5 and E63 AMG a strong challenge. The RS6 will debut in Geneva in March 2007. |

quite possibly the world's most underwhelming engine is the audi s6/s8 v10. completely pointless (compare, for example, to both the bmw v10 and the MB AMG 6.3L v8).
not sure if the "RS6" is truly going to be turbocharged, but i sure hope so.

I stopped by the Audi dealership to look at an A6 Avant (just to say I did my homewrok on aALL possible wagons) and the new A6 avant has a Dodge Magnum-ish issue with the shallow and steeply raked cargo area. Doesn't seem very practical-roomy unless you are putting in things that aren't very tall. At that point, it's not much better than the sedan.
