It's the car you'd end up with if a GTI and M3 has a baby, so it's the perfect solution to this thread's dilemma.
The moment they sell a 4-door M2 I'd be all for it.

I don't know, if you had and your experience was different from mine, that's valid, but you can't tell me how I feel as a result of my experience with the car is wrong and that I should feel differently (and exactly as you) because of a set of arbitrary parameters you've invented - that's stupid. I've taken two long trips, as driver and passenger, in an M4, over country roads and in the city, I drove it quite a bit and know it well enough.

The M4 is a beautiful GT with very high limits, limits that can be properly explored at track day (if you could afford the loss if you wrecked it). Around town, it's large (wide), heavy and cumbersome, the tech stuff is a nice distraction that holds no appeal to me (except for HUD, that was nice) - it's also quite garish, which matters to me, I don't like driving around in cars that make we feel like I'm shouting.

I also don't believe in "next level cars" as a sure thing - a 911 is supposed to be a level up from a Boxster or Cayman, yet I'd take one of the latter P's any day of the week, regardless of price.

I suggested FC try one - he's had a number of third cars now, including at least two Porsches, so I'm not sure what would satisfy him - however, I didn't advise him to repurchase a ZHP (which IMO, IS way more fun as a daily driver).

Frankly, I'm not sure why my opinion bothers you so much - I've been around a LOT of cars over 45 years of driving, I know what I like. In the end, it's just a car, no one really cares what I think nor what you think, the important thing is to buy and enjoy the car that lights YOU up, not the car you think others are admiring as you drive by ...

Wow Ed did I touch a nerve .... first of all I disagree with you, I didn't tell you should feel differently and commenting on your post is what these boards are about. You post an opinion and then someone might or might not respond to your comment.

I completely disagree with you about the whole 'level' of cars thing and btw the comment about the 911 boxster thing .... again I disagree with you on that too

I also disagree that you said no one cares about your opinion ... you are incorrect I absolutely care about your opinion as well as the others here which is why I frequent the board.

Please post another response so I can disagree with you some more

there are few cars probably as versatile as an e90 vintage 335i or 335xi with a 6sp.

Put a deposit down on a 2015 mk7 GTI to replace her TDI.

SE (leather, fender audio) + Perf Package (R brakes, +10hp, front LSD) + Lighting Package. We were going to go new (as the 2017 deals are good) but VW dealers are really s*** to deal with. Found a proper private seller and a black pearl car with only 4k miles and an extra winter set of tires.

There is one downside. It is APR Stage 1. It is a pretty serious modification, more so than I expected. We'll take our chances I guess.

4K miles ... that is quite a find ... congrats when do you pick her up.

When you say taking a chance with the APR stage 1 are you referring to the warranty ?

Any pics ?

Yes, the warranty. Ideally we would have gotten stock. I have actually never modified a car beyond wheels, trim and cat-back while under warranty. That said, this is a significant bump in power (feels like my s4 give or take) and we liked this particular car and its price..

[Seller's pictures, not ours. We pick up in about two weeks]
