LOL

Once, back 25+ years ago, I chased a noise for a LONG time in my car. Went all over the car trying to find out what was rattling and making the oddest noises.
Then, after having given up and living with it for a while, I found a glass marble that someone put in my ashtray. LOL

I had a socket under the trunk battery tray one time.

Most of my car noises begin and end with my 14-year-old.

Years ago, we had a smell coming from the vents in my wife's E91. Thinking it was similar to the smell problem common in E46 AC systems, we asked BMW to treat the system and check the drain plugs. Car came back and smelled OK at pick up, but the smell returned the next day, so back to BMW it went. They treated it again, and the smell came back again.

A few days later, I just happened to pick up the rear seat floor mat and noticed a wet splotch underneath it -- that reeked... And a near empty baby bottle under the front seat that had either breast milk or formula remnants in it. Our daughter must have dropped it, and it spilled slowly over a few days -- mostly evaporating except for the spill that went under the floor mat. Probably had been there for at least a week before we took it in to BMW, and since we had the A/C in recirc mode, it was made us think the smell was coming out of the vents!

Anyway, I used a carpet spot cleaning machine to wet vac the carpet. Once cleaned up and given time to dry out, the smell was gone...
