Yep. So over the wheel/tire swapping in general. All my cars are on all seasons, and will stay that way unless I move to another region. It rains all the time in ATL these days. Maybe a flake or two of snow once a year.

I have three sets of wheels for the Camaro and always look at ads for available sets. When I see them for good prices, I look to see if they're located close enough to nearby. I do not have easily accessible room to store them when not being used, and I don't want to spend the money for the tires they would need.

And they are not all race tires. One set of wheels wears all seasons, and I'd really like to add real snows as well (even if I don't want to drive the car in the snow, I'd like to know I can).

And the E46 now has two sets of wheels and tires (all seasons that are supposed to do okay in the snow and actually snows on the other).

I'm "done" with it, too, Yet... sigh.

I just want a dedicated set of snows for the wagon and the x3. I have the wheels for the wagon, and will throw a set of Nokians on there in early winter. I'm currently leaning towards replacing the Pirelli P7s currently on the X3 with Nokians in the fall and dealing with a set of wheels/tires for summer in the spring. I kind of hate the P7s anyway, so it might be a win/win.

Also, it looks like the x3 and 1er share wheel sizes close enough that if something goes south on the x3 I can use the snows on the 1er. (I have to confirm tire outside diameter, now that I think about it.)

So I kicked this can down the road when I just mounted snows on the original rims in the fall. Now I'm starting the search again and planning on getting a set of Contis DWS06 or whatever the newest version of those are. I'm still struggling with fitment (or more accurately how far I can / should push offsets).

I found this set that I like cheap and local, but they're ET30 vs the normal X3 ET46. That will move the wheel out 1.6cm from normal. Is that a big deal? Would you have concerns with going to a lower offset? As always, I appreciate the input.

Thanks.

That's a pretty significant difference. I don't have any particular concerns about fitment on that car, but without any context, i'd be concerned about how it will look.

I should note that that it far enough out that it also has wheel bearing wear implications.

That's what I was curious about (that it is signifcant and wheel bearing wear could be problematic).

Thanks

I have nothing intelligent to add.

But, they appear to be an "innie" version of the wheels I had on my E70:

Ugh... same question again.

I am thinking about getting a set of sport classic wheels for the 911. They only came in fitments for wide body cars (mine is a narrow body). My current set of RS Spyder wheels are this:
Front:
8.5*20 ET 49 = 245/35 ZR20

Rear:
11*20 ET76 = 305/30/ ZR20

The wide body wheels I'm looking at are:
Front
20X9.5 ET 51

20X11.5 ET 56

So if my math is correct, the new rear wheels would stick out about 3/4" further than my current ones. I am guessing that is too much and would look dumb + send lots of road debris against my rear bumper.

If I had access to a good machine shop, would you consider shaving down the hub ~1/2" to get a better fit or am I just asking for trouble?

for reference, these are the wheels I'm looking at:

and the hub side:

You can't shave the wheel hub - there's not really much in the way of excess meat there. (Think a couple millimeters of tolerance - the sort of thing that you might do for competition rules compliance.)

And those wheels would be about an inch further out. You have to add both the offset delta AND half the width increase. 20mm+1/4"=~26mm
