I don't believe the car has moved under its own power since Bren drove it onto the trailer in 2007 when we brought it back from Detroit, I had to push it off the trailer and a few years later. Push it from the garage to the driveway. When my neighbor bought it, it was towed. He never did any work on it.

Shady Latvian trim installed.

The two pieces from Latvia are the foam surround at the back, which just slides in, and a new plastic trim piece along the hatch side of the cargo floor (the piece with the door on it for the latch).

It's baffling that VW makes two different plastic trim pieces for this car, one with a semicircular cut out for the spare (the one I ordered) and one that is the same in all respects except no cut out (the one that came with the car).

The spare fits either way, it just fits better with the new piece.

Even better, that the part in question is available from Latvia but not from a U.S. dealer.
