Certified Preowned Cars
Is it safe to assume CPO cars good to go if they pass my stringent visual inspection? Or maybe depends on the brand?
I know I have read of shading CPO cars but hopefully the extended warranty catches any issues |

Watchu buyin'?
As for the CPO thing, IMO, it depends on many factors. But my official answer would be probably but not necessarily. |

thanks
tracking here http://forums.carmudgeons.com/showth...=101549&page=9 but this is for a MDX. Local dealers have CPO for low 40ks but the one we are looking at is $47k new so I would probably just buy new then. But LA dealers has a bunch in the mid to upper 30ks so $10 savings seem worth it. Acura CPO basically just adds a year to the normal warranty. |

I have seen 'not great' CPO cars. So my answer would be 'no'. Was the first driver an owner or lessee? Was it fully maintained or minimally? Depends on the brand and many other things.

yeah this would be for Acura(or porsche). The ones she is looking at are only a year old with low teens miles.

There is a good chance the cars are fine (and likely a better selection in SoCal compared to the Northeast in terms of condition). But CPO is not equivalent to a scrutinizing buyer checking it out. They have an incentive to "pass" the car.

That said, for an Acura/Porsche SUV, I wouldn't stress too much about it. |

The extra warranty is nice, but I put 0 faith in the CPO process catching anything meaningful.
