I still am not sure I want to get rid of the 987, though, even if I rarely get to drive it.
That gray one is intriguing. Weird that it has a bunch of performance / enthusiast options but no sport chrono.

I don't remember what sport chrono got you--a sport button and the stopwatch? I do remember at the time when I was thinking casually about ordering one that I decided I didn't want or need it, but I can't remember why.

I think it may have been a more meaningful improvement on later cars, though.

The grey one looks reasonably well cared for but the interior is a bit rough; the bolster, in particular, is kind of hacked up.

I went over to BAT to see the listing you guys were talking about and had a funny (to me at least) observation. Every 911 ad has a lead picture with a front 3/4 view showing the headlights EXCEPT the 996 gen cars that almost always have a lead pic showing their ass end first.

For the non p-car cognisti, those that can't discern a 996 rear end from a 997, it creates a lot of click bait and disappointment. Kind of like the dealership ads that call DCT/PDK a 'manual' in their search terms.

Ha ha, that's funny--I hadn't consciously noticed that, but you're right. It's the equivalent of the selfie shot taken with your camera held way up to disguise your double chin.

I'm curious what this sells for, its pretty much the perfect spec to me if/when I replace the 135 and make the smart choice to avoid an AMV8

Ugh I love that car. Already over what I want to spend. I am firmly stuck in the low mileage 14 981 S range price wise.

That's lovely. Although I'm not a huge fan of "Alcantra" aka ultrasuede.

luckily, I have about 2 yrs for the bottom to fall out of the P-car market and this to be in my 'affordable' range.

@wdc, what don't you like about the alcantara? It looks pretty comfy, wouldn't get hot in the sun like leather and should hold you in place well.
